Aiyedatiwa seeks partnership with Ondo NUJ, laments upsurge in fake news

As the 2023 Elections approach, Ondo State Deputy Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa is worried at the upsurge in fake news and misuse of social media in the Country.
He called on Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and other relevant bodies to do more to tame the trend.
Aiyedatiwa made the observation when the newly sworn-in NUJ Ondo State Council Executives paid him a courtesy visit in his Office on Tuesday.
The Union Chairman, Comrade Leke Adegbite led the Vice Chairman-Hakeem Gbadamosi, Acting Secretary-Ngozi Aduloju, Treasurer-Fatima Muraima and Lawani Arinmola-Brown on courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor.
Aiyedatiwa appreciated the cooperation that the media has been given to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN-led government.
“The importance of the media to any government cannot be over emphasize, because you are a partner in progress” , declared Aiyedatiwa.
“The media plays a critical role in good governance, so we want to appreciate the cooperation your association have been given to this administration” .
Continued, the Deputy Governor said, “if there is a gap, don’t hesitate to engage us…..so for constructive engagements, we can always do better” .
Earlier, Comrade Leke Adegbite commended the Deputy Governor for the appointments of members of the media as part of his staff.
He equally pledged on behalf of the Union to continue to support the government through their various media platforms across the country.
At the event with the Deputy Governor are, Deputy Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa, Press Secretary to Governor, Office of Deputy Governor, Kenneth Odusola-Stevenson, Special Assistant to Governor on New Media, Ladi Okunniga, Press Officer, Office of Deputy Governor, Mrs Olamiposi Odofin and others.
The new executives members also visited the Chief of staff to the Ondo state governor , chief Olugbenga Ale .
Ale who commended the smooth relationship between the state government and NUJ appealed to men of the pen profession to do more in disseminating factual information that would engender development of the state.
He promised to champion the move at making Journalists’ welfare a priority.
In an address, Ondo NUJ Council Chairman Comrade Leke Adegbite appreciated the the state government for its development programs and the initiative of Amotekun corps for the security of lives and property of the people of the state.
