Ondo EKSU Alumni Chairman Condemns Owo Church Attack, Urges Govt to Bring Perpetrators To Book

The Executive Chairman of the EKSU Alumni Association, Ondo State Chapter, Chief Kemini Doubra has condemned the by some criminal elements at the St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-Luwa Street, Owo on Sunday which led to the deaths of scores of worshipers.

Chief Kemini Doubra, in a press statement issues by the Association’s Publicity Secretary Mr. Omoniyi Akinrogunde ‘Romeo’, and  personally signed by him, described the attack as  callous, inhuman, venomous and satanic.

 He lamented the spate of  killings, kidnapping and terrorism in different parts of the country which unfortunately the victims have been innocent and law abiding citizens.

He equally empathized with the bereaved families and traditional ruler of the kingdom, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ajibade Gbedegesin Ogunoye III, the Olowo of Owo and Paramount Ruler of Owo Kingdom on the dastardly act.

In his words, ”I received the news of the explosion and attack at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Owa-Luwa Street, Owo with great shock. A religious center is a sacred place where worshipers should peacefully commune with their creator.

“Unfortunately the house of God has been desecrated, and his people vilified”

Chief Doubra called on the Government of Ondo state under the leadership of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN to spring to action and ensure that the perpetrators of the injurious act are brought to book.

His Imperial Majesty Oba Ajibade Gbedegesin Ogunoye III, the Olowo of Owo and Paramount Ruler of Owo Kingdom on this dishonourable act and collosal loss.

“Kabiyesi Oba Ajibade Gbedegesi Ogunoye III is  a revered monarch in Nigeria, an illustrious son of Ondo state and a distinguished member of our Alumni Association.

“He has always been a lover of peace, and has made his kingdom habitable to both indigenes and non indigenes.

”While praying that the good Lord will restore the aborted tranquillity, console the bereaved families and heal our land; I wish to reaffirm our trust in the capacity of the Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN led government and appropriate agencies to ensure the long arms of the law catch up with the culprits and that justice is appropriately administered”, He added

Chief Doubra appealed for peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance among citizens across Nigeria especially as the 2023 general elections gather momentum. This according to him remain indispensable towards building a prosperous nation of our dream.
