The campaign train of Hon. Biodun Omoleye, the APC candidate for the House of Representatives election for Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II, stormed Ido-Ile and Okemesi Ekiti yesterday, Monday, February 6, 2023. HBO, as Omoleye is fondly called, arrived the two towns in grand style accompanied by party bigwigs with intimidating convoy.
Ido-ile Ekiti was the first point of call where members of the APC trooped out in their numbers to welcome Omoleye and his team.
He used the opportunity to meet and discuss with party faithful and critical stakeholders in Ido-ile Ekiti.
The reception at Ido-ile was massive but that of Okemesi was extraordinary. The reasons for this difference is not farfetched: Okemesi is made up of three political wards while Ido-ile is one ward. The entourage was received at the entrance and let to the hilly-town by notable indigenes of Okemesi Ekiti, including the immediate past Attorney General of Ekiti State, Barrister Olawale Fapohunda SAN, current member of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon Bode Adeoye (JOBA), who is also contesting in the forthcoming elections for the same position, the Chairman of Okemesi/ Ido-ile LCDA, Hon. Sunday Ajibade, and several other APC bigwigs.
Omoleye met with and got the endorsement of critical players, major trade unions and cultural organizations in both communities. He met and secured the support of stakeholders, market women, drivers’ union, Okada riders, traditional institutions, among others.
The paramount ruler and Owa-Ooye of Okemesi, Oba Michael Adedeji Gbadebo, showered encomiums on Omoleye and pledged support for the government of the APC in Ekiti State, under the able leadership of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO). In his words, “Governor Oyebanji is the best thing that could have happened to Ekiti State. He is Omoluabi per excellence. I know Omoleye is a very good man too. I am equally impressed by his antecedents and how he spoke to us just now. He is Omoluabi like BAO. I have no doubt that Omoleye will perform and make us proud when he gets to Abuja.”
Kabiyesi prayed for Omoleye and declared that he is looking forward to his thanksgiving visit back to his palace after his victory at the poll.
Earlier, the Olojudo of Ido-ile Ekiti, Oba Augustine Aderemi Obaleye, thanked the governments of the APC under Dr. Kayode Fayemi where Omoleye served as the Chief of Staff and the incumbent, under Governor Biodun Oyebanji, for their positive dispositions toward Ido-ile Ekiti. The Kabiyesi praised Omoleye for being a friend indeed to Ido-ile Ekiti. “Omoleye has paid his dues in politics, especially to Ido-ile Ekiti. He has always showed interest in the progress and development of our town. It is now payback time for him.
Beyond Omoyele, this is our time (awa lokan) and we must deliver from head to toe”, declared Olojudo.
Omoleye thanked his hosts and promised to make them proud, if elected. “This is an homecoming of sort for me, as I have always been very close to you. I know what your community need and I am conscious of the yearnings of your people. I assure you of good representation that will address most of these challenges and bring visible dividends of democracy to your town.” Omoleye assured the Monarchs and people of both Okemesi and Ido-ile Ekiti.
The campaign tour of Okemesi and Ido-ile Ekiti was another success story for the Omoleye Campaign Organization. The icing on the cake was the astonishing look on the face of one of Omoleye’s opponents in the forthcoming election. The PDP candidate for the House of Representatives for Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II, Mr. Lere Olayinka, against the run of play, he was seen dancing by the roadside when Omoleye’s intimidating convoy arrived Okemesi Ekiti. He was bewildered by what he saw and he quietly sneaked out with his tail between his legs.
