Ondo Journalists humble Engineers in Novelty Match
Nigerian Society of Engineers has been thrashed by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ondo State Council football team 1-2 in a novelty match as part of activities marking the engineering week.
The first half of the encounter which was decided at the football pitch of Anglican Church secondaryy school, Alagbaka Ajure ended 1-1 before the journalists sealed the game with a powerful strike a few minutes to the regulation time.
Reacting to his side’s victory, the state NUJ chairman Prince Leke Adegbite said he was not surprised with the scoreline as the pen Pushers football team are always prepared for any challenge.
In his remark, the NSE chairman, Stephen Bolawole commended the NUJ football team for engaging the engineering practitioners and quality of football displayed by both sides.
According to him; “The game was very interesting even though we did not win as we would have wanted to be.
“It’s going to facilitate more bonding for both unions as well as helping us to look other areas where we can call on government to make investments that will improve the quality of lives of Nigerians,” he noted.
