M-Max FC wins maiden edition of FADA’s Unity Cup Competition
M-Max FC of Akure has won the maiden edition of Hon. Femi Fadairo Football Competition tagged “Fada’s Unity Cup Competition” held in Akure.
The Competition played at the Aquinas College Field, Akure, had 16 teams participating in the one-week tournament with the final being played on Sunday.
M-Max defeated Ijapo Ages 1-0 in a keenly contested encounter to carry the day, while SGIC defeated Star Plus in the third place encounter to play 1-1 in normal time and won 5-4 on penalties.
The Sponsor of the Competition, Hon. Femi Dennis Fadairo, popularly known as FADA, congratulated all the 16 teams that participated in the competition.
Fadairo, who also doubles as the SSA to Governor Aiyedatiwa on Community Engagement (Ondo Central), said it was a beginning of good thing to happen in the sporting sector in the state.
He said it would not be a one time event, as it would be an annual event in the state.
”I am very impressed that we still have talents like this in our dear state, most especially in Akure and it’s environs. I am happy with the peaceful conduct of the participating team“.
“Next year will be greater than this, we will be partnering with our European partners so that we can put our best legs in the international market,” he said.
The organisers of the competition, Niyi Omojowo, later presented meritorious award to him for his outstanding contributions to the growth of football in Ondo State.
Omojowo appreciated the teams that participated in the competition for being disciplined and also acknowledged support from all stakeholders for the success of the tournament.
